Israeli forces expand their control over territory in Syria

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that Israeli forces are securing more positions within the buffer zone in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, according to Ynet News.

The report cited Katz stating that he directed the military on Sunday night to "act immediately in Syria," leading to soldiers taking control of additional positions in the buffer zone.

Katz further instructed the military to establish a security zone free of heavy strategic weaponry and terrorist infrastructure that could pose a threat to Israel.

The operation aims to disrupt the renewal of weapon smuggling routes from Iran to Lebanon via Syria and border crossings.
