India: Baba Peer mazar bulldozed during so-called ‘anti-encroachment’ operation in UP

Baba Peer Mazar bulldozed during so-called ‘anti-encroachment’ operation in UP

The growing wave of state-sponsored atrocities against Muslims in India

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh demolished the Sher Ali Baba Peer mazaar in Sambhal district’s Sirsi area as part of an so called  “anti-encroachment drive” on government land.

The continuous demolition of Muslim places of worship and religious sites in India not only reflects the state-sponsored oppression, exploitation, and persecution of minorities in the country, but also draws the attention of the international community to the dire condition of minorities  particularly Muslims  in India, which urgently requires global attention.

There is an immediate need not only to hold India accountable at the international level for violations of human and religious rights, but also to impose international sanctions on India over these ongoing atrocities.
