Iran’s Supreme Leader Killed as Tensions Escalate After Strikes by United States and Israel
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior security officials have reportedly been killed during ongoing strikes involving United States and Israel.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has vowed retaliation, claiming it has launched attacks on 27 bases hosting US troops across the region, along with Israeli military sites in Tel Aviv. Explosions are also being reported in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump warned that Iran would face force “like never before” if it carries out major attacks today.
Iran’s government says an interim council, which includes Masoud Pezeshkian, will manage state affairs until a new supreme leader is selected. Iranian state media report that at least 201 people have been killed in strikes across 24 provinces.
Iran’s retaliatory operations have targeted Israeli and US assets in several countries, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman.
Amid the escalating exchange of attacks, multiple countries in the region have closed their airspace as a precaution.
