Relatives of captives express deep concern for their loved ones following Israel’s strike on Qatar

Smoke billows over Doha after Israeli air strikes target Hamas leaders based in the capital of Qatar

Israel’s strikes on Qatar’s capital represent a sharp escalation in the ongoing war. Families of captives held in Gaza are demanding answers, accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu of once again breaching international law by targeting a sovereign nation.

Relatives fear that Netanyahu’s actions have jeopardized any chance of a ceasefire deal tied to the release of their loved ones, leaving them in even greater danger.

The pressing question now is where ceasefire talks will head from here. Israel insists the strike was a “precise operation” against Hamas leaders in Doha leaders who, ironically, had gathered to discuss the latest ceasefire proposal in a city that Israeli negotiators themselves have frequented over the past two years.

The attack has provoked global criticism and condemnation. Despite US assurances that such an incident will not be repeated, Netanyahu has openly cautioned that it may well happen again.

In the aftermath, many Israelis are left questioning whether their government truly seeks an end to the bloodshed or the safe return of their captives.
