Former Israeli army chief Moshe Yaalon accuses Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza.
Moshe Yaalon, ex-army chief and defence minister, claims northern Gaza is being ‘cleared of Arabs’, echoing ICC allegations.
Former Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon has accused Israel of committing war crimes and engaging in ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip. These allegations align with those raised by the International Criminal Court against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
Speaking to Israeli media, Yaalon, who also served as the army's chief of staff, criticized the actions of hardliners in Netanyahu's far-right cabinet. He claimed they aim to displace Palestinians from northern Gaza and re-establish Jewish settlements in the area. “I feel compelled to speak out about what is happening there and being hidden from us,” Yaalon told public broadcaster Kan on Sunday. “Ultimately, war crimes are being committed.”
In a separate interview with the private channel DemocratTV, Yaalon stated, “The path we are being led down is one of conquest, annexation, and ethnic cleansing.” When questioned about his characterization of the situation as ethnic cleansing, he explained, “What is happening there? Beit Lahiya no longer exists, Beit Hanoon no longer exists, the army is intervening in Jabalia, and in reality, the land is being cleared of Arabs.”
