Israeli warplanes strike Beirut as a series of attacks kill 40 in eastern Lebanon.
Israel conducted overnight airstrikes on Beirut following reports from Lebanon’s Health Ministry that 40 people were killed and 53 injured in bombings targeting eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley and the city of Baalbek.
Meanwhile, UN humanitarian chief Joyce Msuya cautioned that Palestinian civilians in northern Gaza are enduring extreme hardship, describing them as “starving while the world watches” under a "near-total brutal siege" imposed by Israeli forces.
