Nihon Hidankyo, the Japanese atomic bomb survivors' organization, wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

Nihon Hidankyo, Japan's atomic bomb survivors organization, has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize "for its efforts to create a world free of nuclear weapons." 

The group was honored "for proving through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again," said Jorgen Watne Frydnes, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, during the award ceremony on Friday at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo.
