Massive explosion near Karachi airport leaves two dead

KARACHI: A massive explosion outside Karachi airport on Sunday night claimed at least two lives and injured 11 others, including a foreign national. The powerful blast, heard as far as Clifton, led to conflicting reports, with authorities alternately describing it as an "IED blast" or an explosion caused by a vehicle colliding with an oil tanker.

A large police and Rangers presence quickly arrived at the scene, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. Footage from the site showed several vehicles engulfed in flames. According to officials, the Bomb Disposal Squad is investigating the exact cause of the explosion.

Deputy Inspector General (East), Capt (retd) Azfar Mahesar, confirmed to reporters that two individuals lost their lives in the explosion, which also damaged seven vehicles.
