Sikhs stage protest outside UN in favor of Khalistan during UNGA session
Pro-Khalistan group urges UN to recognise Punjab self-determination
New York: Sikhs have held a protest demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in New York in support of Khalistan during the ongoing 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sikh activists raised slogans in favour of independent Khalistan and against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the demonstration. Participants reportedly came from different parts of the United States, Canada and Europe.
The protest came amid an intensified campaign by pro-Khalistan activists at the UN during the General Assembly’s high-level week, with Sikh political groups seeking international attention to their demand for self-determination in Punjab.
