Pro-Palestinian protestors demanding release of Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safia
Palestinians freed from Israeli detention have reported being beaten and humiliated, describing the prisons they endured as “slaughterhouses.”
As part of the captives and prisoners exchange, Israel released nearly 2,000 detainees, including 154 who were exiled to Egypt. In return, Hamas freed all 20 surviving Israeli captives held in Gaza and handed over the bodies of four others.
Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has claimed at least 67,869 lives and left 170,105 wounded. Meanwhile, 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks, and around 200 were taken captive.
