Israel has yet to respond to Gaza ceasefire proposal; death toll of children nears 19,000
At least 18,885 children are among the more than 62,000 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the war began in October 2023, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.
On Tuesday, Israeli strikes across the enclave killed over 50 Palestinians, including seven people seeking food aid.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said the “ball is in Israel’s court” to accept a ceasefire, after Hamas announced it had agreed to a truce proposal.
So far, Israel’s assault on Gaza has left 62,064 dead and 156,573 wounded, while 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, with more than 200 taken captive.
