At least 1,760 Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza have been killed by Israel since May, according to the UN
The UN human rights office reports that at least 1,760 Palestinians have been killed while trying to obtain aid in Gaza since late May several hundred more than the figures it released at the start of August.
Hospital sources said that Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Friday alone killed at least 44 people. The Israeli military has intensified its relentless bombardment of Gaza City, trapping thousands of residents with no safe route to escape.
On Friday, Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that another Palestinian child died of starvation, bringing the total number of hunger-related deaths in the besieged enclave to 240, including 107 children.
Overall, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 61,827 people and left 155,275 wounded. By contrast, an estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks, during which more than 200 others were taken captive.
