Military and political analyst Elijah Magnier says the latest ambush by Palestinian fighters in Gaza City underscores the tactical and political hurdles confronting Israel’s offensive.

“The ambush demonstrates that the battle for Gaza City is not only about territorial gains, but also about mounting political pressure and the fragile balance between military objectives and human costs both for Israeli soldiers and, above all, for Palestinians,”

He added that the attack will cause a “strategic headache”, noting that Israel’s army chief had already cautioned such incidents could occur and emphasized that responsibility lies with decision makers.

Magnier warned the Gaza City campaign will carry psychological consequences for Israeli forces and could further deepen divisions within Israeli society.
