A baby and a young child have died from starvation in Gaza, as Israel’s ongoing blockade drives the territory deeper into a catastrophic malnutrition crisis.

On Monday, Israeli forces killed over 60 Palestinians including 11 people seeking humanitarian aid in a series of assaults across Gaza. For the first time, Israeli tanks advanced into the southern and eastern areas of Deir el-Balah.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini reported that doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in Gaza are collapsing from hunger and exhaustion.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of 25 countries, along with the EU commissioner, have demanded an immediate ceasefire, warning that the humanitarian suffering in Gaza has “reached unprecedented levels.”

Since the beginning of the conflict, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 59,029 people and injured more than 142,000. In Israel, around 1,139 people were killed and over 200 taken hostage during the October 7, 2023 attacks.
