Israeli forces have resumed bombardment of Gaza just a day after killing at least 71 Palestinians, including 42 people seeking aid, while five more civilians reportedly died from starvation.

In a separate development, the Israeli military seized the Freedom Flotilla vessel Handala and detained its 21 crew members as they attempted to breach the naval blockade on Gaza.

Meanwhile, an Israeli aid airdrop into northern Gaza injured 11 individuals. The UN has criticized the airdrop initiative as costly, inefficient, and potentially deadly for civilians in desperate need.

Since the onset of the war, at least 59,733 Palestinians have been killed and 144,477 wounded in Gaza. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed and over 200 taken hostage during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023.
