Israel launches ‘major strike’ on Iran’s military, nuclear sites
The Israeli military has confirmed it launched a series of strikes targeting Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, marking a major escalation in regional tensions. Reports indicate that some strikes also hit central Tehran.
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the attack, calling it a “crime,” and warned that Israel should “expect severe punishment” for the killing of several senior military commanders and six nuclear scientists.
Following the Israeli strikes, Iran reportedly launched a retaliatory wave of around 100 drones, which the Israeli army is actively working to intercept.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the military campaign will continue for as long as deemed necessary.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that the United States is “not involved” in the Israeli strikes and issued a warning to Iran against targeting American military bases in the region.
