Israeli forces killed at least 70 Palestinians and injured hundreds more on Tuesday as desperate crowds gathered for aid in Gaza, with attacks involving tank shells, machine guns, and drones. The fatalities were part of a broader wave of violence that has claimed 89 Palestinian lives across the besieged enclave since dawn.

The latest bloodshed occurred in Khan Younis, where Israeli troops opened fire on civilians along the city’s eastern road. This marks the deadliest single incident since the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) backed by Israel and the U.S began food distribution operations three weeks ago.

Medics at Nasser Hospital, where the wounded are being treated, warn that the death toll may rise as many victims are in critical condition. Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal reported over 200 injuries, though casualty figures remain unconfirmed.

“Israeli drones struck civilians first, followed by tank shelling, resulting in a high number of martyrs and wounded,” Bassal said, noting that people had gathered in hopes of securing flour.

Eyewitnesses described Israeli tanks, heavy machine guns, and drones relentlessly attacking the crowds,

Tuesday’s massacre surpassed Monday’s record of 38 fatalities mostly in Rafah making it the deadliest day since GHF operations began. Since May 26, over 300 people have been killed and more than 2,000 injured while attempting to access aid.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the killings, demanding accountability. His deputy spokesman stated, “The Secretary-General denounces the targeting of civilians seeking food an intolerable situation. As of yesterday, 338 people have been killed and over 2,800 wounded near aid distribution points.”
