Iran launches retaliatory strikes on Israel following attacks on its nuclear facilities
Iran has launched missile strikes across Israel, reportedly killing at least three people and injuring dozens more, in retaliation for Israel’s continued military operations against Iranian targets.
According to Iranian authorities, Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 78 people including women and children and have wounded over 320, as Israeli forces continue targeting Iranian cities, military installations, and nuclear facilities.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has condemned the attacks and warned that Israel “must expect severe punishment” for what he described as a “crime” the killing of several senior Iranian military commanders and six nuclear scientists.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel’s military campaign will persist “for as long as necessary.”
Meanwhile, the United States has sought to publicly distance itself from the Israeli offensive, while cautioning Iran against striking U.S. military bases in the region.
