Israeli forces bomb Gaza’s Nasser hospital, killing a journalist

Israeli forces bombed the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, killing journalist Hassan Eslaih, just a day after launching attacks across the Gaza Strip that left at least 39 people dead.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza, following a warning from the world’s top hunger monitoring agency that the entire population of the enclave is at risk of famine.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced plans to send mediators to Qatar for ceasefire negotiations after Hamas released a US-Israeli soldier. His office also stated that Israel would delay expanding its military offensive in Gaza until after US President Donald Trump’s visit to the region.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has killed at least 52,862 Palestinians and injured 119,648. The Government Media Office has updated the death toll to over 61,700, noting that thousands of individuals buried under rubble are presumed dead.

On October 7, 2023, an estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during attacks led by Hamas, with more than 200 others taken hostage.
