Israel strikes Gaza, leaving 50 dead; Canada, France, and the UK warn of possible sanctions
Israeli forces have intensified their bombardment of Gaza, killing at least 50 people since midnight. The escalation follows military orders for Palestinians in the southern city of Khan Younis to evacuate ahead of what has been described as an “unprecedented attack.”
In response, the leaders of Canada, France, and the United Kingdom have warned Israel of “concrete action” should it fail to halt its renewed offensive. Simultaneously, 22 nations have called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid into the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Despite mounting international pressure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected these appeals, vowing to continue the military campaign, which includes plans to seize full control of Gaza.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the ongoing war has resulted in at least 53,475 Palestinian deaths and 121,398 injuries. The Government Media Office reports the death toll now exceeds 61,700, factoring in thousands of individuals still buried under rubble and presumed dead.
Meanwhile, the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks in Israel left an estimated 1,139 people dead and over 200 taken hostage.
